This is a fantastic opportunity within the International Operations Department, that leads the implementation of MSI’s contraception and safe abortion service delivery activities across our International Programmes portfolio. 

Within International Operations, Global Programmes is a specialist department responsible for first class partner engagement and the portfolio management of over 90% of MSI’s donor contracts and grants.

The Role:

The Senior Director of Global Programmes is key role, working as a critical advisor to the Executive Team and reporting into the COO. They will lead their department to oversee and manage Marie Stopes International’s significant donor funded, and multi-country projects and programmes.  It also includes overseeing the departments donor engagement, ensuring that Marie Stopes International is positioned as a partner of choice. This includes the direct line management of the specialist teams and individuals overseeing these projects, with a contract/grant value of over £450 million.

As a MSI thought leader, you will be a change agent.  You will be a leader in embedding MSI’s current strategy across the organisation and supporting the ET to design our strategy for 2030. The Senior Director brings a robust blend of experience in country implementation and operations experience, as well as high-level relationship management and global grant and risk management. 

About you

To succeed in this role, but not limited to, you must have:

  • Demonstrated success at people management, including experience at leading a high-performing team.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including success at influencing and operating at a senior level across an organisation is essential.
  • Demonstrated record in senior level relationship management, as well as in engaging and influencing senior policymakers, donors and civil society agencies to deliver strategic outcomes at multiple levels is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience of leading and managing complex international programmes and multi-country projects, including close oversight of risk assessment, is
  • Demonstrated country programme experience is essential.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of donors is essential. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sexual and reproductive health rights essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in change management and strategy development is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills - excellent verbal and written English communication skills and ability to organise and present information in a compelling way is essential.
