The Role:

The role is part of the wider Donor Finance Team with specific responsibility for all US & UN Donor Finance (for example: Gates Foundation, Global Affairs Canada & UNFPA). The remit is to be the finance lead on all US & UN donor funded projects, throughout the project life-cycle. In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Providing high-quality business partnering to the Global Programmes Unit and donor teams;
  • Line management and development of the US & UN team (2 direct reports) enabling them to provide excellent stakeholder support;
  • Budget preparation and review for new business development;
  • The financial aspect of project start-ups;
  • The production of accurate and timely financial reports for internal project management & for donors;
  • Compliance with donor requirements and MSI internal policies on all projects, and
  • The financial aspects of project close outs including audit

About you

To succeed in this role, you must have:

Skills and Experience:


  • Significant experience of managing restricted funds / project accounting, including exposure to donors such as: DFID, EU, USAID (essential)
  • Staff management experience (desirable)
  • Experience in multi-currency reporting and accounting (essential)
  • Accounting systems and reporting experience (essential) to include Vision Q&A and SUN 6.0 (desirable)
  • Experience with development of procedures and systems within an international environment (essential)
  • Business experience in both a commercial and not for profit environment (desirable)



  • Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or other)
