Description

Reporting to Sahel Director. The position can be based in any capital of the 4 programs: Dakar, Ouagadougou, Niamey or Bamako. The final contracting for this role is dependant on the signature of a grant.

The Role:

 

Based in the support office of any of the 4 country programs, the Sahel Technical Director contributes to strategic development; drives programmatic excellence; supports new business development and effective grant management. A key component of the role is to develop capacity in-country and in the Sahel team to accompany the growth of the programs and the diversification of the project & activities portfolio, by linking field teams with MSI global expertise; supporting operational improvements and innovation.

 

About you

To succeed in this role, you must have:

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to organise and present information in a compelling way
  • Ability to design, implement and monitor effective project management
  • Understanding of, and ability to write and edit donor proposals and reports.
  • Ability to create, manage and present budgets, good numeric skills
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and French
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment and across disciplines and cultures, including field teams and head offices.

 

 Experience:

  • Demonstrated programme management experience at senior level (program director, chief of party/technical lead) (5 years). Demonstrated experience of improving value for money and operations efficiency in a health service delivery context, preferably with SRH.
  • Experience in driving innovation in field operations
  • Experience of working in an overseas location (preferably a developing country)
  • Experience of managing donor funded projects, grant management experience
